After graduating high school in 1986, Janine began stripping to supplement her income, she modeled for Penthouse making her first appearance in December of 1987 as Pet of the Month. She appeared in Penthouse several more times over the next ten years and was even chosen Pet of Month runner-up in 1990.
Janine attempted to take roles in mainstream early in her career, her first role was in an Italian film in 1987 titled Bersaglio sull, autostrada which translate or is known as in English as Moving Target which also starred Linda Blair from The Exorcist fame. She did act in other mainstream movies such Spring Break USA and Caged Fury neither of which were very successful.
With her appearance in Penthouse it eventually led to a video entitled Satin& Lace that featured various models of Penthouse. This video was what led her into the Adult Film Industry.
She made her film debut in 1992 in the film titled Hidden Obsessions. She was feature in two more movies before she signed a contract with Vivid video and became a Vivid Girl. Janine had a strict policy of only working with girls-only which meant she would only do work with other woman and it sort of became her trademark. Her first film with Vivid was Parlor Games and she would go onto being featured in over fifty other titles throughout her run with the company.
While working with Vivid Janine branched out in other forms of Entertainment. She formed half of the Exotic Dancing duo Blondage along with other Porn Star Julia Ann and they both headlined several videos for Vivid. Janine also received a part in Howard Stern's Private Parts as a wife of a Camp Director. She was the cover-model for Blink-182's album Enema of the State and appeared as a nurse in their video for the song "What's My Age Again". She also appeared in several other videos.
1999 Janine announced that she was retiring from the Industry to become a Kindergarten teacher and to focus more on raising her child. Her retirement lasted until April 2004 when she announced she would be making a comeback and would be working with men as well as women. She signed with former company Vivid Video and starred in eight films with them. After her contract expired she signed with Digital Playground and was featured in several films from that company. But in November 2005 once again Janine announced that she was retiring from the Porn Industry but in January 2006 she won two AVN Awards and as a result returned to the Adult Film Industry.
Janine was married to a construction worker from 1988 to 1996, she has a son named Tyler. Following this marriage she dated Riki Rachtman who was Headbanger's Ball host and also dated Rock star Vince Neil. A homemade video of Janine and Vince was leaked and eventually released by the same company that released Pamela Anderson's sex tape.
Janine got remarried this time to West Coast Choppers founder Jesse James who left her 2003, when she was seven months pregnant, for Sandra Bullock, they later divorced. Janine gave birth to a baby girl on January 1, 2004 named Sunny James.
